Employee Email Address

The University of Nevada, Reno offers email accounts to employees of the university through Microsoft's Office 365 program at no charge. Most employees are entitled to an email address in the form of NetID@unr.edu. Med School employees have an address in the form of netid@med.unr.edu. Some departments require a separate alias for University business. Please contact your department to determine if an alias is necessary.

Follow the instructions below to activate your account. 

Activating Your Email Account

After you have activated your NetID and completed all of your on-boarding paperwork in Workday:

1. Go to https://portal.office.com/ and enter your NetID@unr.edu email address and then click on Next.
   
    
2. On the next page, make sure to enter in your NetID password and then click on Sign in.
   
    
3. You will see a screen asking for Additional info required. Click on Next.
   
    
4. You'll need to set up at least one of two available secondary authentication methods and click on Finish. (Finish will be greyed out until the authentication methods have been verified.)
   
    
5. You will now be logged into your Microsoft Account. Click on the Outlook icon.
   
    
6. You will now be logged into your Office 365 Employee Email.
    
7. Some departments require a separate alias for University business. Please contact your department to determine if an alias is necessary. By default, all UNR employees will get the standard [NetID]@unr.edu email address. If your department uses a special email domain other than @unr.edu, please fill out this service request. The email domain is the web address that comes after the @ symbol in an email address, such as @med.unr.edu or @asun.unr.edu.
