Students: How to Register for Office 365 Education

A free Office 365 Education subscription is available for students at the University with a student email account. Follow the steps below to register for the subscription. 

Microsoft Office software is included in your Office 365 subscription as long as you’re a student at the University. See Microsoft's Office 365 for Education FAQs for more details on eligibility and expiration of student subscriptions:

Register for Office 365 Education Subscription

  1. Go to Microsoft's Office 365 Education page and enter in your @nevada.unr.edu email address.

  2. The next screen will ask if you are a student or teacher, click on the I'm a student option.

  3. Enter in the information to create your account. Check your student email address for the signup code, and click Start.

  4. You will see a screen asking for additional info. Click on Next.

  5. Set up two of the three available secondary authentication methods and click on Finish (finish will be greyed out until the authentication methods have been verified).

  6. You will now be logged into your Microsoft account. 

Once you have an Office 365 Education subscription, you can access Office apps online using the Office 365 Portal at https://portal.office.com/ . To download Office to your personal device, refer to the instructions for installing Office for Home Use.
