Creating Your PIN
When your account is initially set up for Unified Messaging, a temporary PIN will be sent to your e-mail address, or given to you by a member of the Unified Communications team. When you first access your Unified Messaging account on your telephone, you will be required to change your PIN and record a personal greeting.
Resetting Your PIN
Those on Unified Messaging, but without an @unr.edu e-mail address managed by OIT, should contact the
OIT Support Center to have their PIN reset.
To reset your PIN for Unified Messaging:
- From any web browser, navigate to https://webvm.unr.edu
- Select “Forgot Security Code?”
- In the field labeled “I know my username:” enter your 5-digit extension then press “OK”.
- If the mailbox has a valid email address associated to it, a confirmation will be sent and the below window will appear. If the mailbox is not UM enabled, a “Contact System Administrator” message will appear, in which case the OIT Support Center will need to assist with resetting the security code.
New PIN Requirements
- It can not be any of your previous two PINS
- It must contain only numbers
- It must be at least six digits long
- It may not contain a single repeated number (e.g. 1111)
- It may not only consist of consecutive numbers (e.g. 1234)

After resetting your pin, you may need to wait up to 15 minutes for the change to take effect.
