Overview of Online Proctoring
Respondus is UNR's secure online testing system used in WebCampus to help protect academic integrity during remote exams.
It includes:
- Lockdown Browser - prevents access to other websites or applications during an exam
- Respondus Monitor - uses your webcam to record your testing session.
Who can use it and cost
You will use Respondus if your instructor requires a proctored exam in an online course.

What you need
Before starting your exam, make sure you have:
- Meet technical requirements for installation of Respondus Lockdown Browser
- A computer (Windows or Mac, recommended)
- iPad , if your instructor allows it.
- Reliable Internet connection
- Latest version of Lockdown Browser installed
- Webcam and microphone (if using Monitor)
- Valid photo ID (if required)
Quick Start (Do This First)
- Install the latest version of Lockdown Browser
- Close all other applications
- Open LockDown Browser
- Log into WebCampus and locate your exam
- Complete any required webcam or ID checks
During your Exam
- You can only use the allowed tools within the exam
- You cannot:
- Open other tabs or apps
- Copy/paste or print
- Navigate away from the test (unless allowed by the instructor
If webcam proctoring is enabled:
- Your session will be recorded for instructor review
- You may be asked to show your ID or testing environment
After your Exam
- Submit your exam in WebCampus
- LockDown Browser will close automatically
- If recorded, your video is reviewed by your instructor
Troubleshooting
Issue: "I can't access my exam"
- Make sure you opened your exam in Lockdown Browser (not Chrome/Safari)
Issue: Pop-up error message “Error, unable to continue.”
- Contact the instructor or NEVADA Online to enable Lockdown Browser for the course
Issue: Browser won't install
Issue: WebCam not working
- Check permissions and restart your device
