SharePoint: Assigning Sub-Site Permissions

If you would like your SharePoint subsite to have different permissions than it's parent site, follow these instructions. 

How to Assign Subsite Permissions in SharePoint

  1. Navigate to the subsite you would like to change permissions for and click on the Settings Menu (Gear icon), and then click on Site Settings.

  2. Under the Users and Permissions heading, click on Site Permissions

  3. From the Permissions tab, select either Stop Inheriting Permissions or Grant Permissions

    Stop Inheriting Permissions: Will allow you to clear all current permissions and establish new permissions from scratch
    Grant Permissions: Will allow you to add onto the existing permission of the site.

  4. Once you have set your preferred permissions, navigate back to the subsite. All new permissions should be in place.
