Camtasia

Camtasia is a screen recording and video editing software package that can be used as a standalone tool, or in conjunction with PowerPoint via a direct recording plugin. For information on minimum system requirements for installation of Camtasia on a Mac or Windows PC please see the Camtasia System Requirements page.

Eligibility

Currently, only certain employment roles are eligible for a campus Camtasia license.  These roles are the following:

  • Academic Faculty
  • Administrative Faculty
  • Classified
  • Letter of Appointment
  • Graduate Assistant
  • Postdoctoral Scholar
  • Medical Resident
  • Hourly – Temporary

Installations on UNR-owned computers

  • On-campus machines: Please self-install Camtasia using the Software Center or Jamf Self-Service. For instructions, refer to the Installing Software section of the Knowledge Base.
  • Off-campus machines: Click the Request Camtasia button on this page and complete the requested information. Once your ticket is submitted, steps for retrieving the installation instructions will be emailed to you.

Installations on personal computers

  • Click the Request Camtasia button on this page and complete the requested information. Once your ticket is submitted, steps for retrieving the installation instructions will be emailed to you. NOTE: OIT is not funded to provide resources to support personally owned computers even for campus licensed software. Please contact your personal or paid computer support vendor for troubleshooting.

End-User License Agreement (EULA)

The following agreement applies to eligible University members who install Camtasia .

End-User License Agreement (EULA) for TechSmith Software - Camtasia for Windows & Mac:
You are licensed to install and run one copy of the Software on one licensed device (the first licensed device) for use by one person at a time...you may also install and run a second copy of the Software on a second licensed device for use only by you for your internal business or individual use only...Only one person at a time may use the Software on each licensed device and the two licensed devices may not be used simultaneously by that one person.

By installing and using Camtasia you are agreeing to the TechSmith EULA.

Cost

The University has purchased a campus license for Camtasia which will be provided to staff and faculty at no charge.
