Preparing for Employee Separation and Termination of OIT Services

NetID Access After Separation

NetID access is maintained only while a user has an active contract or status in Workday. When a user is terminated in Workday their NetID is automatically disabled during the next synchronization window (typically every 4 hours).

Once a user's NetID is disabled they will not be able to access restricted University services including campus computers, employee Email, WebCampus/Canvas, MyNEVADA, Cloud Storage (Ex. OneDrive, NevadaBox), Zoom, Remote Services, or any other OIT services not otherwise mentioned.

Maintaining Files Prior to Separation

While the Office of Information Technology does its best to maintain access to email between contracts, it is important to note that Office 365 account access can be removed and the mailbox deleted by Microsoft at any time during periods of inactive status. Because of this, it is strongly recommended that users export any important emails or documents prior to separation from university service.

It is highly recommended to transfer important files stored in home directories, computer hard drives, and cloud storage (NevadaBox, OneDrive) to another user in the department prior to separation from university service. Failure to do so may lead to a significant delay in department access to business critical information while waiting for required presidential approval after a user has separated.

For assistance, contact the OIT Support Center as soon as a separation date is established.
