Connecting to the Virtual Desktops from On Campus

Please refrain from utilizing any audio or video streaming services within the remote environment to reduce the strain on the remote servers. Video streaming (Zoom, Teams Meetings, Youtube, etc.) should be done on your local computer. Anyone using video or audio streaming within the remote environment may have their remote session terminated without warning.

How to Connect via the Remote Services Website

  1. In any browser, go to https://remote.unr.edu.
  2. Once the web page loads, enter in your NetID and password and click Sign In.

  3. Click on the Remote Desktop you would like to run. A pop-up will appear asking what resources you would like the virtual desktop to access on your computer. You can select the Don't ask me again for connections to this computer if you would like to maintain those permissions for future connections.

  4. Your Virtual Desktop will now load within your web browser. Connections are displayed in the browser window and multiple collections can be connected in the same window:​​​​​​.

Optional Client Download for Virtual Desktops

If you wish to download a desktop client version of a Virtual Desktop, which can provide additional utility such as viewing Remote Services on multiple monitors, please refer to the following:

  1. While in the Virtual Desktop choose the gear icon on the top right to display the settings, then choose the Download the rdp file option under the Resources Launch Method Category. Then select the X button on the upper right side of the settings menu to close it.

  2. Select the Home button in the upper left hand corner of the screen to return to the Virtual Desktop selection menu and re-select the desktop you would like to run. A .rdp file will be downloaded which you can launch directly.

    Note: If you receive an error when trying to launch the .rdp file please make sure your computer is updated to the newest version of your operating system.
