BitLocker is Microsoft's built-in encryption software for Windows designed to provide full-disk encryption for hard drives and USB flash drives. BitLocker encrypts the entire contents of the startup disk, ensuring that unauthorized access to the data stored on the device is prevented. Access to the encrypted data is restricted to those with valid device login or possession of the recovery key.
BitLocker is enabled by default on all OIT managed university Windows devices.
