Steps for First Time Connection to the VPN - iOS

  1. If your device is managed by the university you can install the GlobalProtect Client via the Self Service Application in the Featured Apps section, otherwise navigate to the App Store and install GlobalProtect.

  2. After installation is complete open the GlobalProtect app and under the What's your portal address? enter vpn.unr.edu then select Connect.

  3. A popup asking for permission by Global Protect to add VPN configurations will appear, select Allow.
  4. The page will redirect you the Microsoft login site where you will login with your NetID in the form of NetID@unr.edu and NetID password. Logging into the VPN now requires MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) via Microsoft Azure. If you have an active employee University email account you will likely already set up an MFA method which will be used to authenticate here. 

    However, if you have not yet set up a multi-factor authentication method you will need to do so. To do this, please visit the Managing your Multi-Factor Authentication Set-up Knowledge Base article.

  5. Once authenticated you will see a confirmation popup with the Welcome to Global Protect header and will see a VPN icon in the upper right hand corner of your screen.

  6. You are now connected to the VPN!
