Microsoft Windows Operating System

Operating system for computers, managing the computer’s hardware, software, memory, and processes.

Windows 11 is the most current operating system for computers at the University. University-owned PCs may have Windows 11 installed, however, there are strict hardware requirements surrounding Windows 11 that may require the purchase of a new computer

Windows 10 will remain a supported option through October 2025 when it reaches its formal EOL. Any University-owned computer may have Windows 10 installed or upgraded free of charge.

Windows 7 reached End of Service on January 14, 2020. Therefore it is recommended that all new and existing computers be loaded with Windows 10.  For more information on the Windows 7 to 10 transition please see our Windows 7 to 10 Upgrade page.
