Long-distance calls are allowed on university telephones for official University business only.
For personal long-distance calls, employees should use individually purchased prepaid phone cards or personal cell phones.
There are two methods for making long distance calls:
- Long Distance Access Codes allow you to make a long distance call from any University phone.
- Calling Cards allow nationwide and international long-distance calling from anywhere in the world.
Long Distance Access Codes
LDACs can be requested selecting the button below and filling out the proceeding form or by contacting the OIT Support Center. A work order will be placed for our Phone technicians to generate a unique code. For billing purposes, a Workday Worktag Number is needed to create the account. To recover forgotten authorization codes or get a compromised code replaced, contact the OIT Support Center. A work order will be created and forwarded to a system programmer who will provide the forgotten code or reset your authorization code.

Making a Long Distance Call with your LDAC
- To dial long-distance, press 9 - 1 - Area Code and Number.
- The dial tone will change to a beep, enter in your long distance access code followed by #.
Toll free numbers do not require an access code. They can be dialed by pressing 9 - 1 - then the Number.
Making an International Call
Dial 9 + 011 + Country Code + Phone Number.
Ignore the first digit of the phone number if it is "0". E.g. if the telephone number is 01223 456789 (UK), you would dial 9 + 011 + 44 + 1223456789.
