Connecting to the Virtual Desktops via Remote Applications

Please refrain from utilizing any audio or video streaming services within the remote environment to reduce the strain on the remote servers. Video streaming (Zoom, Teams Meetings, Youtube, etc.) should be done on your local computer. Anyone using video or audio streaming within the remote environment may have their remote session terminated without warning.

If you are a frequent user of Remote Services, or you don't want to navigate to the website, it is possible to set up a PC or Mac to keep .rdp files as favorites and launch them directly from Microsoft Remote Desktop. Launching .rdp files this way is done much in the same way as for any software installed onto your local machine.

Before continuing with these instructions, please make sure that your computer has all the latest updates, and that you have administrative rights on your computer to complete the Remote Applications Connection. PC users who do not have administrative rights will need to access Remote Services via Website Connection.

Connect to the VPN

NOTE: If you are currently connected to the University wireless (eduroam) or wired network you DO NOT need to connect to the VPN prior to connecting to any remote resources.

For increased security all remote connections require you to connect to the university VPN (Virtual Private Network) on your computer prior to initiating any remote connections.
