Hardware Purchasing

Purchasing a computer or printer for your office doesn't have to be a daunting experience. The Office of Information Technology will assist in making sure the process is as simple as possible.

NOTE: We cannot recommend purchasing a computer on your own through a consumer retailer. Consumer grade computers don’t have the enterprise security protection and performance levels required on the campus network and consumer warranty agreements cause serious support issues.

Computer Surplussing

Prior to surrendering an old computer to BCN Purchasing, the Office of Information Technology will need to remove the hard drive. Learn more about surplus procedures and computer parts donation.

Warranty Information

The majority of computers on campus are made either by Dell, HP, or Apple. These three manufacturers provide simple ways to check your warranty status online. Additionally, the Dell support site can inform you if your computer is owned by the University or not.

It is extremely difficult logistically to provide warranty information for all makes and models of computers. Please contact the manufacturer directly for the warranty information on any other type of computer.

OIT will support most makes of UNR-owned computer equipment.
